Surviving the Summer

I’m a fall person. I’ve said it before. I’m not about the summer. I can’t stand the heat and humidity. I daze off and start to think about how many months we have left until I can pull out that Dior overcoat.

It’s hard to survive in the summer. I used to think that the best-dressed people really got their fits off in the fall/winter but one thing I have learned is that it’s actually the opposite. The best style comes from the summer. You have a limited selection to create really good outfits and it forces you to experiment.

As a person who 99% of the time will be seen wearing a black leather jacket, black jeans and boots… let me give you some essentials to get by for the summer.

1. Basic Tops
Cop some neutral colors for your every day wear. Something a little heavy but has lightness to it. You don’t want to be caught out in those SoHo streets with sweat stains fam. I’ve been rocking Acne Studios standard O and Jil Sander tees. You can also throw some polo’s in there to change it up.

2. Short Sleeve Shirts
Aim to be Tony Soprano basically. Look for silk, viscose, linen or a light cotton shirts. These are honestly essential. Play around with different styles. Tight or loose fitting, unbuttoned or all the way up and the patterns.

3. Trousers
Shout out to my brotha’s Ian and Jack on this. They influenced me on ‘cropped’ trousers. I wear jeans all the time plus I am not about shorts, so being put on to the trouser life saved me. You can’t go wrong with black, navy or grey trousers, especially if they’re linen. You can pull some clean looks and stay cool.

4. Low Top Shoes
I know this sounds like a no brainer but every time I leave my place my mind is saying “put your wyatts on.” Sadly, we can’t always wear boots. Look for a simple and clean silhouette. A pair of Vans, Margiela replicas, Off White and Greats are good options.

Hope these tips help.
